
Bio

Grace Morrison is a fourth year student at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance, and is currently studying under Dr. James Thompson. She has also studied privately under Dr. Abigail Walsh, Arlene Renico, Felicity Fulton, and Joy Zalkind.
Grace is the current flutist for the GVSU New Music Ensemble, and Principal Flute of the Symphony Orchestra. She has also been Principal Flute for the Wind Symphony, and a member of a variety of chamber groups such as the GVSU Whirlwind Quintet and the No Rosin Required Quintet (Woodwind Quintets), a flute and oboe duo, and various flute duets, quartets, and choirs.


She has performed in multiple masterclasses in her time at Grand Valley with performers and educators such as Mafer Guglielmina, Karisa Werdon Antonio, Martha Councell-Vargas, and Christian Glascock. One of the highlights of her musical career so far has been competing and winning a spot in the 2024 Collegiate Flute Choir at the National Flute Association Convention in San Antonio, TX. In Spring 2026 she was also offered a spot in the Fresno Summer Music Academy Symphony program.
Grace's goals for the future will continue to revolve around her love of community. She strongly believes in the power of community outreach, and the the joy that music can bring to those in her local area.
